Shuffle god, we're listening!

Intro: My latest blog entries have been very serious and although I've keept up featuring a track every time I post, I've grown a little worried about this becoming a blog concerned and focused on historic events rather than the songs related to them. To offset this I've decided to rip-off a post I found on some other blog, which I decided was kind of interesting. It empowers a song by giving it the ability to speak directly to the listener by addressing one issue alone. The mechanics of this game consit of setting your music player to shuffle and recording the name of the song that plays as well as a comment to a set of statements stated below.

Justification: The reason I found this to be an interesting theme is that, given my education in engineering, I've found that many of the forces that rule the world are much less predictable that what we like to think they are. Yes, we as engineers try to harness the forces of nature to provide practical uses for humans using the knowledge that scientist uncover, however most of the models utilized in such enterprise, are a scientific community's accepted representation of reality; a reality that is ultimately of random nature. I know that the model utilized in the shuffle function of a media player, to generate the numbers that ultimately translate into a song, may not be statistically considered as random, so I propose the following gedankenexperiment: Just ignore the last statement...Let us consider the choosen song is as random as many of nature's own behaviours (women for instance, market changes, etc...) Thank god for random behaviours, they keep things interesting!

Not that you care, but this can get a little personal in terms of getting a glimpse of my musical interests as well as my informed interpretation of the data set. LOL! Yeah right! All the songs will be posted on a mix tape for your always evading and unattainable satisfaction (thank you Mr. Jagger, you Roll like a Stone). The results:

Opening credits: The Decemberist - Shankhill Butchers. Oh man my opening credits are wicked cool. Don't let me find you awake or I'll kill you!

Waking up: Norther - Dead. I hope this really picks up!

First date: Dave Matthews Band - American Baby. North American girls... apparently, they have no interest in me whatsoever. Anyway this song is not about an American girl it's about a country and "I'm afraid we've lost the way." Nothing to comment about first dates though.

Falling in love: Angra - Paradise. Essentially love takes you to paradise but it's bloody hell, like the Roman Colosseum Arena.
Fight scene: Kevin Johansen - El Incomprendido. I never get into fights but I can tell you that I'll work towards not turning into the looser this song describes... or maybe he's a winner and he's just misunderstood. AHA!

Secret love: Flight of the Conchords - Boom. LOL! I love the opening statement of this song. Shaka shaka!

Life's okay: Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons Pt. II. Ok this is getting so scary. What can I say... A Change of Seasons, a change of times. There are periods of time in which you harvest what you've planted. There are difficult periods of time in which you have to be strong and weather the storm. Better days await.

Mental breakdown: The Killers - All this things that I've done. If this song can be interpreted as a plea for spiritual attention, I don't think I'm having a mental brakedown. I could use somekind of divine intervention!

Driving: Led Zeppelin - Achile's Last Stand. Just listen to it. Now drive.

Learning a lesson: Anathema - Closer. You say I'll live in your dream world... F YOU! I'm in mine!

Deep thought: Pain of Salvation - Dae Pecuniae. Great song... It's pretty self-explanatory why this song is not only appropiate but perfect. Take a good look at what we've created. Check out the ending of the previous song Nauticus, on their Be CD.

Flashback: Led Zeppelin - Since I've been loving you... that's for me to know!

Partying: Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas - Abarajame. Oh yeah I really partied through the 90's with this song! Yo aspiro a la paz... Abarajeme en la bañera nena! I recommend: Cool o! It's a party song (:

Happy dance: The Rolling Stones - Rocks Off. I dream of never having to get my rocks off! That's a very fun song to dance to.

Regretting: Muse - Take a Bow. What can I regrett, leaders beign manipulated and lobbied to ignore serious social causes? Maybe I regret not trying to take part in politics aiming to aid the ones in need... I'm in need!

Long night alone: Black Sabbath - Kiss of Death. When I have a long night alone I remminisce about the things we shared and the frailties I never thought I had. Reason takes over to say that enduring such episode make me indestructible YEAH! This is no ordinary soul you're destroying.

Death song: Megadeth - Holy Wars (The Punishment Due). Brother killing brother. Death song for sure.

Closing Titles: The Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden... oh I'll never be your beast of burden.
Random right! maybe not... (:

Take this experiment, make it your own, document it and put it in a time capsule or just post it here as a comment. Now that would make me feel (:

Please post comments or suggestions. Rock hard!
